Music from Moonbase69

   Applepie
Applepie.. it's sweet, fat, and you can't stop eating it. Those same characteristics may be found in this tune. Well, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it sure serves up fat piece of meat to sink your teeth in. Enough with the food analogies already! See for yourself how you like this tune.

   Battlesynth Galactica

   ChrisMoose
Here's Chrismoose! It's the kind of tune that would work well cruising in a car, wind blowing through your hair (if any), bopping your head to the beat and enjoying the summer breeze during sunset... or something like that. After a serious GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) episode, this was the tune in which i tried all my new toys. The JV 1080 is in there, the JD-800, the Creamware pro-12, Juno 60, JX3p, Nordlead 2R and the JP-8000. The drums are some really neat VST plugins. Melissa provided inspiration and showcased her considerable talents by drawing Chris Moose.. the result is that the tune has a certain 'Moosey' quality to it

   CosmicCoast
This bouncy tune was made to see what would happen if I used nothing but my hardware synths... well except for drums, that is. There's the DSI Mopho, the Jupiter 6, the MKS70, the creamware Pro12, so synthgeeks will probably be able to spot all of them somewhere in there. And then there's the amazing voice of Melissa, who also wrote the lyrics to this song. Enjoy!

   Crater Tycho
This is my (Payt) attempt to make some sort of dance tune. Throw orbital, the prodigy, Prince and Chemical Brothers in a kettle, stirr firmly, let it boil for a week, and this may come out.

   Entheogen
This song was made in honour of the latest (2010) Simultaneous Hyperspace Event, as organized by the DMT Nexus. This tune might take you places.. there's the chattering entities, weird sounds, everything culminating in what might be an alien ritual, only to come down in a relaxed state of mind in the end. Well.. something like that anyway :)

   Explorer
Explorer does what it's name implies. From deep soundscapes with weird bitcrushed rhythms to funky stuff with 'epic' solo's.. It goes all over the place without ever really settling anywhere. Give it a whirl and see where it takes you.

   FireFly RoseMarie
This is a revamped version of the original firefly. It shares some of the themes of the original, and the Chorus is pretty much intact in this one, but the instrumentation has been changed. It now has more of a classical sound with an updated rhythm track, and some additional parts for a bit of extra drama. This tune seems to be a favorite with many people.. it is uplifting and soars with the best of them.

   FireFly
Firefly is actually the first song made under the guise of Moonbase69, made in around 2000 or 2001. I was working on a rhythm, and had added some of those broad JP-8000 strings. Only when I played the lead sound on top of it, did I realize that this might actually work. It was one of those moments where something just 'clicked' as I played it. Then I added all the other stuff, while DenHeer helped me out deciding what to add, what to keep and what to discard. The song features the Drumstation and JV80 on drums, a lot of Novation Nova (the bell sound, bass, FX, leads), Alesis Andromeda (7th strings), JP-8000 strings, JV80 piano, percussion, and arpeggio.

Floating...

   Fra MauroX

   Freelove
Freelove strats out kinda jazzy and ends in a different place than where it started, like a little journey. It reminds us that Love is Free, and that we are to free our spirits.. other than that, it's a nice breezy tune you can enjoy in all sorts of circumstances

   FreeRunning
Freerunning is a technical term synthesists use for the kind oscillators that never reset or retrigger when one presses a key. What happens is that an envelope generator starts apmlifying that oscillator when needed (like when a key is pressed), and then we hear the sound.. but even if the oscillator isn't being amplified, it still keeps running. Since this song is all about these kinds of oscillators and amplifiers and filters etc, in other words Analog synthesizers, it's called 'Freerunning'. Another interpretation could be a celebration of a feeling of freedom. Both apply! This song was made with nothing but (analog) hardware synths, except for the drums. Sit down and relax, because this one takes you for a ride :)

   Frogtears
Frogtears is another of the apparent favorites of many people. It's a song that builds and builds to a symphonic crescendo, then leaves you floating in calmer waters so you can ponder what just happened. The mood of the song is reminiscent of the Music from the movie 'Bladerunner', which is considered a classic if only because of the amazing music that Vangelis composed for it. Personally i considedr this a tribute to that music.

   Frozenland
Once the 2 ladies who host the 'Beyond the Ordinary' show asked me to make something in a Christmas mood. I took on the challenge, and this is the result. People regard this piece as rather cinematic.. it's not hard to make up a story which the music could be describing. I wonder what kind of pictures it evokes for you!

   Gaagh - Ambigaagh
IF you like creepy music, this is your thing.. Alien whispers, deep soundscapes, atonal washes with reminders of cultures that once were, it's all here in this meditative piece.

   NightOfTheProwler
Night of the prowler was the very first jamsession we did. The players are Payt (keyboards), Denheer (Bass) and K1000 (guitar). Drums are provided by a novation drumstation with a little JV-80 mixed in for good measure. The 'organ' sound is the Juno 60, while the synth lead is the good old JP8000. We had good fun playing this, as can hopefully be heard in the tune.. somehow.

   WindsOfChange2010
Winds of Change began in about 2010 as a collaboration between someone on a music forum (Tony) and moonbase69. Tony wrote the lyrics, and we were going to make the music and do the vocals. The result was this song. First it had vocals by Dennis through a vocoder, but the revamped version (in 2010) has Payt on vocals. Dennis might add his later on, but for now this is what it is. The entire song has been remixed, provided with new FX, EQ, compression, etc and some additional drums to give the old ones some more weight.
